Allstate Insurance is out with their annual safe driving study and Brampton maintains the 6th highest collision rate at 7.61 collisions per 100 cars. This is an increase of 9% since the previous study in 2015. The rate in Caledon rose 28% to 7.62 collisions per 100 cars catapulting car drivers there into spot #5 . The study was conducted in Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
In October, a study released by Kanetix.ca ranked Brampton as tops in the province with the highest insurance rates at $2,268. Caledon has one of the lowest rates in the GTA at $1,164.

ARC Insurance Brokers ranked and compared insurance premiums across Canada in 2014. It found that Ontario had the most expensive rates ($1,281 per year) in Canada with the highest frequency of claims, lawsuits and injuries and high levels of fraud and organized crime. Rates accounted for 4.5% of disposable income. At that time, Quebec’s system of public/private insurance was tops with an average annual premium of $642 per year.
