Cab Drivers Question Fee Increase by City of Brampton

Zafer Tarik, a taxicab operator and member of the city’s Taxicab Advisory Committee pointed out that licensing fees for cab operators have been increasing every year, however, the meter rate which governs what drivers charge has been frozen for five years. Tarik asked councillors “How many members sitting here have received raises in the past five years, but we have not received anything.” Mr. Tarik is trying to stop an annual fee increase from $410 to $450.
