Brampton Tops in Canada on Transit Growth

Harry Schlange, the city’s top bureaucrat will be reporting an “unprecedented” 17% increase in transit ridership as part of his report to City Council on Wednesday morning. Mr. Schlange will be providing an update on the city’s Strategic Plan which was updated earlier this year in an effort to make Brampton a “Future Ready City.”

According to the report, the 17% ridership increase makes Brampton Transit the fastest growing system in Canada. Service improvements this year include three new local routes:

  • Chingacousy Express from Mount Pleasant GO Station to Brampton Gateway Terminal
  • Bramalea Terminal to York University
  • Sheridan College to Humber College via Brampton Gateway Terminal

In addition, Züm construction began on Airport Road to extend current Bovaird service to Malton GO Station, and this December, two new Züm Queen service additions are being added to the new TTC Toronto-York-Spadina Subway Extension stations.
