Brampton’s Summer Olympians to Watch

Caught the Olympic fever yet? We’ve counted seven (7) Olympic athletes with Brampton roots that will be competing. These athletes were either born in Brampton or call it home. As you watch the games over the next couple of weeks, keep an eye out for these athletes and cheer extra hard for them.

  • 8/9 – Did not play in 2 – 1 win over Germany
  • 8/12- Played 9- minutes in 1 – 0 victory over France in the quarterfinals
  • 8/16 – Played 90 minutes in 2 – 0 loss to Germany in the semifinals.
  • 8/19 – 2 to 1 victory over host Brazil to with the bronze medal.
  • Silver – 2012 CONCACAF Women’s Under 17 Championship

  • 8/12 – Scored 5 points and collected 1 rebound in 81 – 51 loss versus the United States
  • 8/14 – 4 points and 4 rebounds in 73 – 60 loss to Spain
  • 8/16 – 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists in 68 to 63 loss to France in the quarterfinals
  • Gold – 2015 FIBA Americas Women’s Championships
  • Gold – 2015 Pan American Games
  • Silver – 2013 FIBA Americas Women’s Championships

 

From the list of accomplishments its not hard to imagine any one of them bringing hardware home to Brampton after the conclusion of the games. These athletes have worked hard all their lives at their individual disciplines.  Brampton Focus congratulates all of them for reaching the Olympics.
